The post "http://www.ufocasebook.com/letteringdeciphered.html was written by Greg Boone and sent to the UFO Update mailing list this morning in jest. The 'researchers' on that list have been strangely silent regarding these pics.

I just registered as I've been following this thread since it began and found a few things during that time that had I been registered I would of replied to. When I seen this post regarding what I knew was written in jest I decided to register and let you know where it came from.

I'm not a skeptic or a believer of any new case, but am open minded. Each investigation must be taken on it's own. No matter if the last case was a hoax or valid. To declare anything new as a hoax, or as legitimate before all the work is done proves no purpose, IMO

parralex,

Welcome to OM and thanks for the info regarding the picture!

And as to your opinion, I couldn't have said it better myself!

from unexplained-mysteries.com forum:

"Last night I read a book that deals with the ufosightings in my country. Particularly one sighting caught my attention as the ufo had been quite similar to these strange crafts discussed in this thread. There was also a drawing attached showing a roundish drone with sort of a tail and three shorter antennas in "front". The person who saw this thing tried to catch it and at that point the antennas moved burning his hand.
An guess what: this sighting is from the 30's.
Hmmm. I doubt this story being in internet as my country is so small and unknown. LOL
I will try to at least translate the story into English + scan the drawing."

How the Capitola PD Chief would know that his colleagues from Tahoe had recorded the exact same testimony, unless they both referred to some (Chad's ?) images... ?

OK, I have had a response from Capitola Police Department - from no less - Capitola Police Chief Richard J. Ehle!

He says that :

"the exact same sighting (alleged ship) was reported in Tahoe " and on the proposition this as an UFO he says " I believe you. " So it seems that the Police don't think it is CGI.

Bren,
Sorry in advance for questioning when you said be patient, BUT your post only seems to show the Capitola chief commenting on the Tahoe sighting. While we are waiting for the whole picture, give us a tiny bit more info pleeeease (insert whinny sound). :)

OK, so you showed the Capitola police chief a picture, he says "looks like the one from Tahoe".

Did he say IF ANYONE in his jurisdiction reported sighting a similar object? Or is that what you are waiting to confirm?

Thanks,

 Update on Capitola police investigation

OK - now we're moving. 8-)

Chief Ehle has passed on the details to detective Mark Gonzales of Capitola PD.

He has now opened an investigation into this whole thing. I will keep you all informed of course as soon as I hear anything.

Here is his initial report:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am a Detective here at Capitola Police Department. We have not had any reports from citizens regarding a UFO sighting. This internet story is the first I have ever heard of the UFO.

Capitola is 2.2 square miles and our citizens call on anything and everything. We even get calls from cat feces on lawns to sick seagull birds. Our citizens are very watchful and notify police on any strange event. From my experience with this community, I believe we would have at least one hundred callers notifying our dispatch center of the sighting. With that said, we have a centralized dispatch center who take all calls for the entire county. Therefore, even if the sighting was just outside of our city limits, I would know about it.

Let's assume the sighting is true and correct. We as a police department need to investigate. I have sent a few emails to websites stating my name, position and interest in contacting the eye witnesses. At this time, I have nothing other than Rajman1977 and "chad". If you have any emails for these people, please let me know so I can interview them and determine if this is a hoax or for real.

Take care,
Mark Gonzalez

This doesn't make sense. Especially if "Chad" has seen it on numerous occasions and nobody else has? Just not right.

Personally, I think this is brilliant news! - I have thanked Detective Gonzales for undertaking the investigation. I hope C2C are co-operative as well as they have Chad's details. I forgot to mention that Linda Moulton Howe has claimed to have spoken with Chad - is that right? Can someone confirm please, as we need to give him as much background info and leads as we possibly can.

Thanks.

Now we will find out for sure - one way or the other. :o 8-)

Hi. I have been lurking for a while but just joined. I do want to thank everyone for their thoughtful and excellent analysis of this so far.

I have personally been leaning toward the hoax theory the past few days. One thing I found very suspicious and which I believe has been mentioned here only once (unless I missed other discussion of it) is the fact that the original size pictures from Flickr (before they were taken down) have EXIF data showing that they were edited in Photoshop (to easily see this, just change the .jpg extension to .txt, open in Notepad and search for "photoshop"). I know this is not something that either the camera or Flickr would add, so my question to Raj would be, when were the pictures edited in Photoshop and why?

Welcome sqt,

Nice of you to join us, I'm sure spf33 can help you out with your question.

Now, speaking of hacking into the account, WHO actually benifits the most?
