said many pages ago; i think the artistic or painterly look to chad's photos, which help contribute to their "fakeness", are due to a combination of them being possibly at least 3rd generation compressed .jpg's and being photo-prints that were input into the computer using a scanner, compressed, then uploaded.

to me, the increase in believability of raj's photos increased dramatically from viewing the 1024x768 to the 1600x1200.

wonder what chad's would like look at similiar res?

Good points. I think the other thing to keep in mind (though as nothing more than circumstantial evidence so far) is that the software that apparently left the footprint in the pics is Photoshop CS (as opposed to Photoshop Elements, for example), a program intended for professional photographers which retails for over $600.

Just something to mull on... :) ;)

Almost everyone I know who has a computer has photoshop I have cs2 and I,m not a photographer though I am an artist.

I agree that this one fact is not enough to reach any kind of conclusion, but it is definitely something intriguing that must be looked at before we can conclude this is all authentic.

the xmp createdate info for each of the images;

pic13-<xap:CreateDate>2007-05-20T13:04:39-07:00</xap:CreateDate>
pic14-<xap:CreateDate>2007-05-20T13:48:32-07:00</xap:CreateDate>
pic15-<xap:CreateDate>2007-05-20T13:05:03-07:00</xap:CreateDate>
pic16-<xap:CreateDate>2007-05-20T13:05:16-07:00</xap:CreateDate>
pic17-<xap:CreateDate>2007-05-20T13:05:32-07:00</xap:CreateDate>
pic18-<xap:CreateDate>2007-05-20T13:59:32-07:00</xap:CreateDate>

do these look like they could be timed to someone grabbing images off a memory stick, then saving them?

same date as the upload to flickr. now, if the flickr page were still there, i think they stamped the upload times, a comparison could be made. for what reason, i don't know yet...

one way or another the images passed thru cs2, and aside from using a hex editor, i don't know that those #'s can be modified.

maybe raj was worried that he was using an "educational" version of photoshop...

I'm wondering, is this still the case once you have seen the Photoshop metadata? That is really what did it for me (i.e., pushed me over to the skeptics' camp), so I would definitely appreciate an reasonable, credible explanation of how that could have happened without anything fishy going on.

Well, there are 55 minutes from when the first image was saved to the last...also, they apparently weren't saved in the order they were taken. I am not sure what else can be gleaned from this. Am I missing something?

I still think the fact the images went through Photoshop CS raises a lot more questions than it answers...

The problem IMO is that besides the pics all we have are questions! What we need are some definative answers!

seems about right for a family sitting down at the computer clicking around ps looking at the jpg's of the bizarre thing they just witnessed.

wait, i'm getting the dates confused. the images were pulled off the memory stick the same day they went up on flickr.

right. but raj's father is a mechanical engineer, so not entirely out of the realm of possibility.

Perhaps Raj is on dial-up and it took that long to upload those large image files?? Just guessing...

Thanks. Agree with you on both points. I had forgotten about the mechanical engineer angle, so there is a possible explanation that also needs to be explored.

Either that, or they were modified the same date they went up on flickr. ;D

Would that contradict what Raj said about not having the memory stick and having to get it from his in laws (a 3 hour round trip)? The pics were taken at an earlier date and uploaded days later? Can we safely assume Raj uploaded the pics from his place rather than his in laws?

In his original flikr post he said i was at my inlaws to be.....
