You mean a show he could call in to? You would think that would be the logical next step if he did in fact search for "radio + ufo." But he hasn't called in, has he?

Once i'd found the media, i would realize that there's no Open line as such, only the possibility to send my pictures to the Editor.

Hmm... OK. In my mind, it's a stretch. But that's just IMO. :)

I can distinctly see a "10" at the top of the vertical label. I cannot read the other "characters" below though.

<snip Image>

As was mentioned earlier by calikid about the horizontal "HIGH VOLTAGE" label, to me it does look like it might be just that, I can see at least an "A" in there.

Thanks to spf33 and JakeReason for trying this first, and as they already pointed out -- it very difficult to get something from that.

For simple comparisons (note the Yellow HIGH VOLTAGE signs).

Standard "out my window" California Power Pole. This pole is TALL, must be at about 50foot, nearly twice the height of the telephone poles in our area.

FYI, I did rotate the image 90degrees in Photoshop, and cropped to narrow.

from http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061030132531AASSSN8

Telephone Poles, at least the old wooden ones, come in three sizes... 30ft, 60ft, and 90ft.

When one is installed, 1/3 of it is buried into the ground, so that means that the part above ground would be 20ft, 40ft, and 60ft high.

(This is for the United States, only.)

The newer Cement and/or Steel ones are more customizable.

Source(s):
I used to install telephone poles for a living.
(Pole Line Construction)

ok, i went back and let photoshop cs2 do some filter>noise>reduce noise on the section, then tweaked levels and caled 200%, so take this with a slight grain of salt, as i really dont think there was enough pixel date there, but it looks like "D19" to me;

You used to install telephone poles? Does that mean you are familar with power poles too? Can you speak to IF there is such a things as ID plates on any of the poles? What would D19 indicate?

Also, why doesn't the power pole at my house (in pic) have a number? Only SOME power poles get a number??? I feel cheated, my power pole looks so naked without one. ;D ;D ;D

CaliKid

30,60,90 ..... they say the size of the pole doesn't really matter. ;)

I'm not sure I am seeing what you are seeing. It does not look anything like the object being discussed in this thread, "closed up" or not. It looks almost like something that's double-layered. What are you seeing that I'm missing?

I think a lot of people here don't understand small towns, and in particular don't know what life is like for a small town cop. As the contacts at the police stations have pointed out, if something like the things in the photos were being seen by locals, you can bet your boots they would know about it. I'll bet they are particularly annoyed by things like the baseless claims here that they could not be trusted to do a real investigation, or to report honestly what they might find. Rubbish!

I know you are thinking this detective is Barney Fife and Capitola is like Mayberry but that is not the case. Capitola is not your usual small town. It's a touristy beach town. There are many of these "towns" that line the beach where you cannot tell when you leave one and enter another unless you saw the sign indicating it.

You obviously do not know what I am thinking!

I know what the Santa Cruz area is like. Duh. Have you ever really known anyone in law enforcement? Hung around with them when they were on their own time? Maybe you think you have a rumor mill at work? Hah!

Good point. That is a very "prettified" picture. And the translated text does point to it being just an artistic impression. Please ignore the above messages...

Well, in fact we have 4 reports, and 2 identified witnesses : Raj and Shirley, speaking on C2C.

"Shirley's" sighting was in 2005. No photo. "Raj" is identified? Where? How?

None of the "witnesses" have truly been identified, AFAIK.

why is someone who tries to get more info on their own a pest?

I was of course referring to that endless stream of bloggers and general know-it-alls who set themselves up as "investigators" and "researchers," rehashing old cases (badly) and generally adding more confusion than anything else. They mangle reports by editing them to fit their own pet theories, get basic facts wrong, perpetuate old lies that have been debunked decades ago. Pests! Anyone taking a fresh sighting of any consequence to such an "investigator" would most likely not be treated with any professionalism, and could get something far worse.

There are dozens of competent, intelligent and reliable investigators out there. Unfortunately, for every Stan Friedman, Bruce Maccabee, Linda Howe, Brian Vike, Peter Davenport, etc etc, there are five or ten of the other kind.

i think "it does not look anything like the object being discussed in this thread" is a bit of an overstatement. i was simply checking out flickr's uploads for that last few days and i though there were enough similarities to post it.
