You belong at ats. You don't speak for me and I'd venture to guess you don't speak for this forum. Mods correct me if I'm wrong.

I don't see the need for your type of response to Smokey. He was simply making an observation. Please refrain from telling members where they 'belong' as all are welcome here, regardless of opinion, as long as they post with respect and maturity!

@ whoopeddog

If I am not confused myself...

I believe you are confusing the second sighting at Lake Tahoe with the First sighting at some undisclosed location made by "Chad".

I still am as no solid evidence has been presented except pics that may or may not be CGI.

By the way, to Onthefence: it looks to me like there are 16 spiky things on both the Chad and the Raj photos, not 12.

You're right about the Chad images, here's my count below. I think that with the object tilted, that the angles of lines further away become larger, hence my mistake.

16 tines means 22.5 degrees apart
I still cannot see how you get 16 from the the Raj images, can you point that out for me?

Im still leaning toward hoax myself. Cant speak for anyone else but with no real evidence and our witness not answering the questions that could actually confirm his story to a degree it isnt looking real good in my eyes.

Sorry. It was a slip against better judgement. I retracted and edited my post.

Jed,

I think that since Raj has bravely come forward it is no longer appropriate for established members to continue screaming hoax. They are free to think it but why continue to harp on it here? That is the same thing as calling Raj a liar. Wouldn't that be considered biting the hand that feeds us? Raj has went out on a limb for us and deserves our respect.

Are you kidding? The Internet is full of people ready to spend many hours goofing off with CGI. There are entire websites full of CG generated graphics, many of them much better than this and created by young and old people all over the world for nothing more than fun. Check cgsociety.org for a couple of thousand examples of incredibly detailed 2D and 3D CG work.

This UFO could easily be a more sophisticated version of the sort of pranks you see over at SomethingAwful. I can absolutely see how the hoaxer would get a massive kick out of the publicity in the media and online. Also, some hoaxers (e.g. the famous Dr Jonathan Reed and his frozen alien) have gone on to profit from their hoaxes quite nicely. I'm not saying that is the case here, but money has certainly been a major motivation for all of the major hoaxes in UFO/supernatural history that I've ever investigated. Erik von Daniken, Lobsang Rampa and Carlos Casteneda spring to mind as people who made entire careers from long running hoaxes.

Raj's presence here is greatly appreciated and he shall be treated with the utmost respect but his presence doesn't necessarily imply that the whole case is true. It lends it some credence, sure, but even hoaxers can register and post in a forum. I'm not point blank saying Raj is a hoaxer, just pointing out that all the cards are not yet on the table as far as I am concerned.

We are still waiting for the 'smoking gun' questions to be resolved.

1. Did Raj and Chad post from different IP addresses? I pointed out earlier that all Yahoo mail includes an origin IP that can be easily checked. Can the forum admin give us an update on that?

2. Which newspaper did Raj report the sighting to, as per his statement on Flickr? How did he report it and can it be verified? Can Raj answer this next time he returns to the forum?

No one is screaming hoax. Simply responding to another post about the subject.

The fact is Raj has come forward, but has not answered the few simple questions that can possibly coroborate his story, no other witnesses have come forward, no one called the authorities and yes i am going to say it again, not one word in the media. So are we to assume this thing flew over Capitola California and only a handful of people saw it (even though it was a nice sunny day from what i see in the pics)? Not only that but it made such a limited impression on them that they never mentioned it again? Sorry but something just doesnt add up.

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence. All we've had so far is extraordinary claims.

Have to agree with you to some extent.

Initially we ONLY had some anonymous pictures to analyze, reportedly from independent observers. Since then a witness has come forward.

At this point we have witness that says "I have seen this", does he have supporting proof? Yes, he has produced the photos to support his story (the sequence is off, but this IS what it amounts to).

We have debated the validity of the pics to extremes.
Seems the next natural progression in the investigation lies with establishing the credibility of the witness.
We must depend on Raj's good will to conduct that investigation (something of a hindrance).
If this can be done, without hostility, we MAY conclude he is a believable/reliable witness.
Raj has mentioned that several family members, and even strangers in passing automobiles witnessed this object, so corroboration does exist if it can only be brought to light.

Real or Hoax? Do we have Open Minds?
This case is NOT closed yet. Give Raj a chance. There were those skeptics that said Raj would never even appear, but he did.
Even if Raj can only drop in occasionally, depending on his schedule, we need to formulate intelligent questions AND LISTEN TO HIS ANSWERS.

Real or Hoax?
Let's try to reach a logical conclusion after ALL the facts have be collated. ;)
